Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Let us first of all welcome you to our website. We hope and pray that you will have the opportunity to spen some time with us which will be beneficial to your spirit.

Chances are you are not familiar with the churches of Christ. In these parts (Central Maine), we are often confused with the United Church of Christ. Sometimes, because of the name on the door, we are confused with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We are neither.

Well, then, who are we? We are a people that desire nothing more than to be Christians. No more, no less. We follow no man-made creeds. Preferring only the Bible as our guide, we try to “Speak where the Bible speaks, and remain silent where the Bible is silent.” We have no central office or convention to which we report; we steer clear of any church government except that provided for in Scripture. We try our best to follow the pattern left by the early church.

We believe that the surest way for Christians to achieve unity Jesus prayed for is by going back to the Bible, setting aside any tradition contrary to the Word of God. By doing our best to restore not only the practices, but also the attitudes of First-Century Christianity we hope to see the restoration of First-Century Unity, which is needed so much at this time.

And so, praying for a religious world full of sects and denominations, we challenge all disciples to follow Jesus according to the Biblical model, not according to the traditions of their fathers. This attitude shapes everything we do.

We would not be so arrogant as to claim we have “arrived.” Unfortunately, we can sometimes be downright hypocritical. However, we do not let our imperfection discourage us from seeking to lift Jesus up in everything we do, knowing that our success does not depend upon our own ability, but upon God. And we know that He will help us become what He wants us to be as we depend on Him.

So again, welcome! And if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. We want to know what you think.
